It's a growing trend. It's called home theater and many people are discovering what a wonderful entertainment aspect of their lives it is. Are you considering joining the club? Then you need to start reading home theater reviews.
Can a home theater system review help you firstly, understand what is required and secondly, give you the right advice in setting up your very own in house cinema? They sure can but you need know what to look for.
There are varying degrees of home theater systems. Some decide to just go with the basics while others go all the way and reburbish a basement and set up their own piece of cinema magic. Whatever level you decide to build, it's a good idea to review home theater systems before you actually get started on a project and spend your hard earned dollars.
A good place to start is to pick up a copy of Home Theater magazine. It's full of excellent information on how to build and set up systems while providing excellent information on specific components which go into making home theater work.
What Do You Look For In A Home Theater System Review
It's difficult to find a home theater system review encompassing all facets of home cinema set up. Why? Because everyone has different tastes and it's hard to satisfy someone's curiosity in one short review. Some people just want the basics while others dream big and are ready to turn their trusty basement into the home showpiece.
Technical jargon confuses most of us and while these reviews show the author knows his stuff, to the ordinary layman, it is of no use whatsoever. So when reading a review of home theater systems, don't get hung up on the technical language being used, move on and find another review.
The most important home theater reviews, especially in the planning stages, are room and basement set up reviews. This is so vital to the overall project it cannot be underestimated. Those who have been through the process of renovating a basement or turning a room into a cinema masterpiece have a lot of valuable information to give. For example, did you know things such as ambient light, wall materials and floor coverings are extremely important. And what about where you will be sitting in relation to the television. Is the viewing distance right? What you say...viewing distance!
I realise you may be working on a budget but for the bigger projects, using a home theater designer or consultant may be a good idea. Read reviews from those who have and get a feel for whether they were satisfied. Look for recommendations. If a particular item or feature is mentioned in favorable terms by several reviewers then give it a lot of thought.
Home Theater Reviews Online
Magazines are a great source of reviews for home theater but so is going online. The good part is reviews come in all shapes and sizes such as for and against reviews on specific items such as televisions and sound systems. You get a good idea of what to consider and what to leave alone. Only consider or dismiss an item if it's mentioned several times.
